Who is Larry Friedman?

Larry Friedman is a powerful attorney. He is not someone to get on the wrong side.
The events that caused Jeff to get on Friedman's wrong side are simple but frightful.
  • Judge Furgeson who had the case for less then 72 hours, threatened Jeff (see hearing transcripts below).  The threats from the judge frightened Jeff's legal team and they quickly withdrew.

" THE COURT: You realize that order is an order of the Court. So any failure to comply with that order is contempt, punishable by lots of dollars, punishable by possible jail, death .
MR BELL: And death
THE COURT: They do and I have jurisdiction, too. So I'll tell you what.... You want to challenge the court order, I have the marshals behind me. I can come to your house, pick you up, put you in jail. I can seize your property, do anything I need to do to enforce my orders. I'm telling you don't screw with me. You are a fool, a fool, a fool, a fool to screw with a federal judge, and if you don't understand that, I can make you understand it. I have the force of the Navy, Army, Marines and Navy behind me.

THE COURT:  This is going on and on and on until Mr. Baron has nothing. I mean actually everything is depleted.  I gather that Mr. Baron is worth lots of money. But it may be that we sell  all the domain names. We may sell all of his stock. We may cash in all of his CD's, and we may seize all of his bank accounts

  • Jeff had 6 hours to find another attorney.  Not a simple task.
  • Larry Friedman agreed to represent Jeff for a 75k retainer. Mr Friedman promised Jeff he would personally handle the case. Jeff explained to Mr Friedman that the attorney he would be up against was very aggressive and that a Jr lawyer could not handle the hearing scheduled for the next morning.  Once Jeff signed that retainer and paid the fee, Mr Friedman left the room and brought in a Jr attorney to handle the case. Mr Friedman never appeared at the hearing.
  • The Jr attorney was out of his league.  Instead of working for his client,he sat on his hands and did nothing He insisted Jeff agree with all of the demands of the other side.
  • At a temporary injunction hearing, again Mr Friedman was no where to be found but instead his Jr team was there.  Again, they did not interfere with the proceedings or object when Judge Furgeson ordered all business moneys to be divided 50% to Friedman's firm and 50% to Jeff's business associate's attorney.  This left NO money to run the business.
  • Ondova, Jeff's company had to choice but to file for bankruptcy. This move brought the wrath of Mr Friedman upon Baron.  He saw he was loosing his Golden Calf.
  • Judge Furgeson ordered Friedman to pay for all professional fees required to investigate the Ondova/Netshpere claims but he would not comply with the judge.
  • Mr Friedman threatened Jeff several times with a tirade about  going to the judge to encourage Judge Furgeson to hold Jeff in contempt if Jeff would not bend over to Friedman's demands..  Jeff was unhappy with the way things were going with Friedman at the helm but had no choice..
  • A bankruptcy attorney was needed. Jeff hired council.  However, Mr Friedman threatened again with contempt if Jeff did not fire his bankruptcy attorney and hire Mr Friedman's friend, Mr Pronske.
  • Larry Friedman is a very prominent attorney in Dallas and carries a lot of weight in his professional circles.  His office is complete with metal detectors, private security, etc,.  What a guy

Why do Judges Have So Much Power

Federal Judges take an oath of office to protect the Constitution of the United States.  They abide by an oath that charges them with unbiased and blind justice.  We the people are entitled under the law to a fair trial, due process, along with many other civil rights.  A civil litigant is not required to prove his innocence, it is up to the prosecuting entity to prove guilt.  This is the law

While this is all and good, the oath of office is many times ignored.  The longer a judge is in office they realize they have so much power and control over someone life.  If you ask the average person on the street about our judicial system, they believe that our Bill of Rights protect us against the super powerful judiciary system.

When I first learned of the Jeff Baron case, I took a straw poll of my friends by asking a few simple questions.  All were taken from court records,

Unequivocally they were horrified to learn what Jeff has gone through in a court of law that is supposed to protect you from corruption, innocent until proven guilty, etc etc, etc.  With each comment, they would say,  This is American, there are laws against that".  "A judge can't take the right to work away from someone, we no longer have slavery in America."  "Lawyers have to tell the truth, they take an oath."  Lawyers are supposed to keep client privilege private." "A judge can't coach a witness during a hearing."

I tell my friends that prior to 2010 I believed as they did.  This case has turned my head around and I now know what corruption really looks like.
people, news media, and the like are afraid to speak out against the injustices people encounter.  Other areas such as family law is a cesspool of corruption, Elder care is another area old, infirm and or their families are abused by the law. The Federal Court system is rampant with judges violating the law they are supposed to upheld because they are protected by the government. Because Federal Judges are not subject to recourse, they have all the power to do whatever they like inside or outside the law.

Both my father and my husband fought for this country.  My father gave his life so we can be free.  I am sick to see what has happened to the justice system and the greedy lawyers, the biased judges, Congress who is supposed to be the watchdog of the judicial system is more interested in their special interest groups then making sure that their constituents (us regular folk who vote) are not taken advantage of by the system.

Greedy Lawyers

What makes so many lawyers greedy?

We read about stories about lawyers by fiction writers which make interesting story lines. We watch  TV series about lawyers that allow us into the secret world they live and work in.   Some of the stories series like "The Good Wife" allows us to go behind the scenes of the  firm and lets us in as one of them.   The sad truth is that many fiction writers get their stories from actual cases.  Jeff's case would make a great series.

During the course of my adult life, I've not had much opportunity for the need of client/attorney relationships. Both my grandfather and my father-in-law were practicing attorneys.  I would cringe whenever I was at a social gathering and hear people telling lawyer jokes.  I had first hand knowledge of 2 very fine gentlemen who practiced two very different types of law.  My grandfather was one of the first to graduate from the Detroit College of Law in the early 1920s.  He became a prosecutor for the City of Detroit.  Later in private practice, he had a general law practice with my grandmother as his assistant.  He had very high morals and would turn cases away for example  it was a divorce that involved children. I naively thought all attorneys were upstanding citizens, helping real people travel through the legal web of laws.

My father-in-law graduated Wayne State U after a successful career as teacher then assistant principal for the Detroit school system.  He in his later years decided to go to law school to help the disadvantaged.  At 55 years old he graduated with honors and started his law career.

He accepted  criminal cases, general legal counsel, family disputes and whatever came his way.  He always looked out for the person that was either too rich for legal aid but not rich enough to engage a high paying lawyer.  He just wanted to make things right.  These two men were role models for me.

Fast forward to today...there are more lawyers out there for the mighty buck then to help someone and will do whatever it takes to grab on to the mighty dollar.  During the time I have been following Jeff's case, I have come to realize that the lawyers involved are nothing short of greedy, sneaky, unscrupulous people that are out to take you for all you are worth.

Judges are no better.  They were lawyers before they became judges.  Judge Furgeson who was at the beginning of this Kangaroo Court, and now retired, is going after the government he worked for and suing  same government, (the one who pays his fine pension) in behalf of all Federal Judges for higher compensation.  Suing the government.  Our tax dollars at work.

Is this not ironic?

Unfortunately the lawyers who want to make a difference, follow the oath of office,  treat their clients with respect and want to really help them are painted with the same ugly brush.  Here is an opportunity to tell your story of the Good, Bad or the Ugly.

Abuse of Power in the Court Room

What is Abuse of Power?

When a Federal Judge orders the impossible and threatens contempt of court if the impossible order cannot be made, is abuse of power.

Judge Jernigan knows fully well that Jeff Baron cannot possibly comply with her orders, she is setting him up for a disastrous outcome.

Q:  What makes her orders impossible?

A:  Judge Jernigan is ordering 100s of 10000s of documents duplicated and delivered to her court.  First of all, if it is possible for Jeff to produce those copies, she will not allow funds for such a job.  We are talking over $5k dollars.  Second, most of the files are held by the adverse lawyers who claim they do not have the files and if they do, are they willing to provide them?  Third, when Judge Furgeson illegally put Jeff into receivership, Peter Vogel confiscated all his records, both business as well as personal and has never returned any of them.  This only part of her impossible orders.

Stay tuned for more as the Kangaroo Court continues.

A letter from the Reciever's Attorney. Unbelievable!

Below is a copy of the court receiver's letter ordering Jeff not to hire a lawyer.  In December 2012, the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled this illegal.

Subject: FW: Jeff Baron Receivership

Dear Mr. Baron,
As you know, I am counsel for the Receiver, Peter Vogel. The Receiver forwarded to me your e-mail below. Judge Furgeson’s Order Appointing Receiver (“Receiver Order”) provides the Receiver with, among other things, the following powers and duties: (1) “exclusive control over, any and all ‘Receivership Parties, which term shall include Jeffrey Baron,” (2) “exclusive control over any and all ‘Receivership Assets’, which term shall include . . . accounts . . . and all cash” (the “Receiver Funds”), and (3) exclusive power “[t]o choose, engage, and employ attorneys . . . as . . . the Receiver deems necessary.” The Receiver Order further provides that you “shall fully cooperate with and assist the . . . Receiver,” and such assistance shall include “providing any information to the Receiver that the Receiver deems necessary.” Based on the powers and duties provided to the Receiver within the Receiver Order, the Receiver has retained me and others at my law firm to serve as counsel. Furthermore, based on the obligations imposed upon you under the Receiver Order, you—and that means you, personally, and not indirectly through any lawyer, agent, or any third party individual —shall cooperate and assist me and others at my law firm and provide us with information that we deem necessary to effectuate the Receiver Order.

The Receiver is furthermore instructing you as follows: First, you are expressly prohibited from retaining any legal counsel. Should you retain any legal counsel, the Receiver may move the Court to find you in contempt of the Receiver Order.

Second, you are expressly prohibited from disbursing any Receiver Funds provided
to you by the Receiver for anything other than the following daily-living expenses or yourself only: local transportation, meals, home utilities, medical care and medicine. Should you disburse any Receiver Funds provided to you by the Receiver (including, without limitation, the $1,000 check enclosed in the letter I had delivered to you approximately two and a half hours ago) for anything other than the aforementioned daily-living expenses (including, without limitation, retaining an attorney), the Receiver may move the Court to find you in contempt of the Receiver Order. To be clear, you shall not use any portion of the $1,000 I sent you today to retain an attorney.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
